KATHMANDU, JUN 10 -
All human beings have to pay a price for their sins. The Special Court on Thursday convicted two employees of state-owned Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) for their involvement in misusing the bank’s property.

The court slapped a four-year jail term and Rs 4,528,500 penalty on Anil Kumar Malla, manager of Gulariya-based RBB’s branch and assistant cashier Prem Bahadur Sodari. In its ruling, the court stated the duo misused RBB’s property worth Rs 9,000,000.

The court, however, gave clean chit to another defendant Subil Kumar Bhandari concluding that he was not involved in the scam. The court said the verdict was issued as per the clause 17 and 3 (1) of the Corruption Prevention Act-2002. Both the defendants are told to deposit the fine at RBB. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had registered a case at the court for their involvement in misusing public property. The defendants are in police custody.
