SLC pass percentage down

The Office of the Controller of Examinations today published results of School Leaving Certificate for the year 2067, with 55.50 per cent students successfully crossing the Iron Gate. The examinations were held from March 24 to April 1.
This year’s pass percentage once again has maintained the downward trend with 8.81 per cent less students passing the exam. The pass percentage was 64.31 per cent last year while it was 68.47 per cent the previous year.
Out of 496,243 students who had filled the examination forms, 454,022 appeared in the test, with 230,499 passing the SLC exam this year.
Out of total appeared, 220,766 (55.50 per cent) students have passed in regular category and 8,733 (17.30 per cent) in partial category.
Of regular students appearing in the exam, 124,305 boys and 96,461 girls passed the exam. The pass percentage of boys and girls stood at 59.12 and 51.44 per cent, respectively.
A total of 20,111 students — 11,991 boys and 8,120 girls — passed the exam with distinction. Altogether 82,619 examinees — 48,357 boys and 34,262 girls — secured first division.
Out of 109,795 students — 59,428 boys and 50,367 girls — got second division; out of 8,241 examinees — 4,529 boys and 3,712 girls — secured the pass division.
Of the total exempted examinees, 4,431 boys and 5,302 girls, have passed this year.
Likewise, OCE this year has provided five marks as grace to 17,740 students. Exams of 790 students were cancelled.
According to Exam Controller Surya Prasad Gautam, the pass percentage decreased this year because strict measures were taken during the exams. According to him, 144,000 students, who have failed in two subjects, can appear in chance exam, which will be held from August 8-15.
Students can view their results on http://www.slcresult.soce.gov.np, http://www.slc.ntc.net.np, http://www.moe.gov.np and http://www.doe.gov.np. Students using Nepal Telecom services can dial 1600 and those subscribing UTL can dial 1215 to know their results.
