SIDEWAYS MOVEMENT IN NEPSE

The secondary market of Nepal today moved in a sideways direction after yesterday’s fall of 4.5 points. The market index today started trading from the prior day’s closing level but soon after the trade, the local bourse started to fall to levels of 485.5. However, the trade of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) at a higher level than that of previous day’s level pushed the benchmark index to the height of 487.17 points. Then again, Nepse index plunge to the day’s lowest level of 485.24 levels before recouping to the level of 486.95 levels. Following the gain, the market once more fell in the red zone and failed to bounce back by the end of the trade resulting in the overall loss of 0.08 points; the Nepse index today closed at 486.28 points.

Altogether there were trade of eight sectors among which Banking and Finance were the only sectors to tumble by 0.9 and 0.65 points respectively. As for remaining sub-indices, all settled in the green terrain, the sector with the highest gain was Hydro with 3.67 points followed by  3.57 points of Hotels sector. Likewise, Others also made an increment of 2.35 points whereas Development , Insurance and Manufacturing made rally of 1.3, 1.43 and 0.27 points respectively.

Overall there were trade of 85 scrips among which 27 scrips increased 18 remained intact and 40 scrips decreased. The best performer for the day was, Nirdhan Utthan Bank Ltd. (NBL), closed at Rs 244, with Rs 22 or 9.91% gain. Whereas, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), closed at Rs 145, was the worst performer with Rs 387 or 72.74% loss; the main reason for such a huge drop was price adjustment of 1:9.5 right share by the Nepse as today was the book closure date of the share .

In case of the highest shares traded among mutual fund, Nabil Balance Fund 1 (NBF1) , closed at Rs 11.09, topped with 491,576 units. In terms of ordinary scrips, Chilime Hydro power Co.  (CHCL), closed at Rs 1107, topped with 8,322 units; the scrip also had the highest turnover worth Rs 9,108,872 via 42 transactions; in which Broker no 28 (Shree Krishna Securities Limited) was the most active Broker with 17.71% stand alone dealing of the CHCL, tallying 2,936 units worth Rs 3,226,190 via 12 transactions.

Altogether there were trade of 634,457 units of share via 856 transactions worth Rs 43,745,975; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 477,940.59 Millions.
