Siddhartha Bank offers free medical pre-paid card

Siddhartha Bank Limited has come up with a novel way of helping the Nepalis who have to go to India or other countries for medical treatment.

The commercial bank is issuing free of cost medical pre-paid card to its clients — both account holders as well as those who do not have an account in the bank — so that they can load the amount they require for the medical treatment in the card, and use it abroad.

“All you need is a referral letter from certified doctors or hospitals that you have to go abroad for treatment,” bank officials told ShareSansar. “We will then load the card with amount up to Rs 50 lakh.”

As this card is meant for the medical treatment, the customers can withdraw amount worth up to NRs 8 lakh through first transaction and up to NRs 12 lakh a day through POS terminal.

“You can withdraw up to Rs 32 lakh a month through the POS,” the bank officials further said, adding that the bank will be monitoring each and every transaction to ensure that they are not misused.

If the card is used through normal ATM counters then the client can withdraw only Rs 10,000 like the general visa debit cards.

Upon arriving at home after treatment, the clients must submit their medical bills to the bank, as per a central bank provision.

The medical pre-paid card can be collected from any of the branches of the bank across the country.
