Sick industries to get facility within January 2013

KATHMANDU, NOV 02: 

Sick industries will get facility before mid-January 2013.

The subcommittee will submit the report to the main committee, which will finally recommend it within mid January 2013 to provide the facility to the sick industries, said under secretary at Industrial Promotion Division Surya Kant Jha.

“We will soon complete the recommendation proposal of the 12 industries that we have already completed the study tour,” he added. “We are preparing the report based on interaction with stakeholders, their bank transaction and field visit,” Jha, said, adding that they are yet to decide which industries can be revived and which cannot be, apart from selecting the fraud industries. “Based on the field visit, we are making evaluations of them and classifying accordingly.”

The committee is also preparing for observation tour of industries — within Kathmandu Valley — that have applied for the sick industries facility. The Industrial Promotion Division has received 30 applications claiming to get sick industry facility.

The division had sought a budget of Rs 2.7 million for the process to classify and recommend the names of the sick industries. However, it was able to receive only Rs 0.85 million. The expert committee formed under the coordination of the Industrial Promotion Division this time is quite convinced to complete recommendation process within time frame, though earlier taskforces and committees had failed. 

Officials at the division said that unclear industrial policy has delayed sick industries rehabilitation process .

However, with much liberal industrial policy, the division is quite convinced to forward the recommendation on time and timely approval by the government.
