Shrestha adds Rs 2.5m to IJ Charitable Trust

KATHAMNDU, Dec 6 :

Ravi Bhakta Shrestha, industrialist and former president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has added Rs 2.5 million to the IJ Charitable Trust.

Shrestha had established the fund four years ago in the name of his parents Indra Bhakta and Jawahar Devi. With the addition, the fund now has Rs 5 million.

 Talking to Republica, Shrestha said that the interest received from the fund will be used to support treatment of underprivileged children at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

"We will support a maximum of Rs 20,000 to each underprivileged children admitted at the pediatric ward of the hospital," Shrestha said, adding that he was supporting treatment of children as a social responsibility. According to Arun Sharma, pediatrician at the hospital, a total of 49 children received the assistance from the fund last year.
