Shanker Group and Infinity Holdings Deny Political Links, Vow to Rebuild After Hilton Kathmandu Destruction

Shanker Group and Infinity Holdings have issued a joint statement firmly denying any political ties with Sudan Gurung or his organization, “Hami Nepal,” following rumors that linked them to the Gen Z protests that destroyed the Hilton Kathmandu Hotel. They clarified that their only engagement with Hami Nepal was a one-time CSR collaboration during the COVID-19 pandemic for humanitarian aid, with no ongoing or political connections. The companies condemned the spread of misinformation, stressing that such false claims fueled animosity and economic damage.
The destruction of the Hilton Kathmandu Hotel, valued at over NPR 8 billion in damages, represents a major loss not only for the companies but also for Nepal’s hospitality and tourism sector, with ripple effects on jobs, supply chains, and investor confidence. Despite the setback, company leaders vowed to rebuild, reaffirm their long-term commitment to Nepal’s economy, and called on the media to practice responsible reporting. They emphasized resilience, public trust, and unity in the face of tragedy, while mourning the broader national loss.
