Severe Flood Damages Hydropower Dam and Friendship Bridge in Rasuwagadhi

A massive flood triggered by heavy rainfall has caused extensive damage in Rasuwagadhi, affecting critical infrastructure. The dam of a hydropower project sustained significant destruction, and the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge at the border point was swept away.
Several newly imported electric vehicles parked at the dry port’s charging station were washed away, and the customs yard in the area also suffered damage. Reports confirm that 7–8 vehicles were carried off by the floodwaters.
Security personnel involved in rescue efforts were successfully evacuated. Authorities have urged residents downstream to move to safer locations. The army has been deployed for rescue operations, with a helicopter on standby, though its deployment was delayed due to poor weather conditions.
