Seven kg gold seized from Thankot

KATHMANDU:

A team of police, deployed by the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot, today seized seven kilograms of gold from a passenger travelling to Kathmandu from eastern part of the country.

Police found the gold worth Rs 30 million from Dorje Sherpa (43) of Papung-4, Taplejung district from a bus.

According to Prabin Dhital, the Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Thankot Police Circle, Dorje had been hiding the gold in his waist in a piece of cloth.

Dorje was arrested while police were checking the vehicle entering and exiting from Nagdhunga, an entry point to Kathmandu.

Police are probing the incident with the alleged smuggler under their control.
