Sebon sore with Nepse
KATHMANDU, May 16:
Nepal Stock Exchange is exercising its full power as the monopolist by disregarding the regulations framed by Securities Board of Nepal. The front line regulator has held its annual general meeting after nine months of completion of fiscal year, which is too late.
Nepse — being the secondary market and a front line regulatory body for the listed companies — has been flouting the rules time and again.
“Being the single stock exchange, Nepse exercises monopoly in the capital market thus has been disregarding the regulations time and again,” chairman of the capital market regulator Dr Shurbir Paudel, said. He also informed that Nepse has not yet paid the outstanding dues worth Rs 140,000 to the regulator in fees.
In the second quarter of the current fiscal year, 119 listed companies submitted their financial reports.
