Saudi Arabia Requests a Substantive Proposal for Cooperation in Nepal's Infrastructure Development
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala, and Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Nepal, Saad Nasser Abdullah Abu Haimed, held a meeting on Wednesday. During the meeting, the two discussed issues concerning infrastructure development and bilateral partnerships in development projects.
Describing Saudi Arabia as one of the major employment destinations for Nepalis, the Minister proposed a partnership between Nepal and Saudi Arabia in the infrastructure and transport sectors. He noted that approximately 400 thousand Nepalis are currently employed in the labor market in Saudi Arabia.
"Nepal is set to graduate from the category of the least developed countries by 2026," the Minister informed the Saudi Arabian envoy, emphasizing the need for further investment and bilateral cooperation in Nepal's infrastructure industry to sustain this graduation.
In response, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador expressed readiness to cooperate with Nepal in the infrastructure and transport sectors, requesting Nepal to present a substantive proposal in that regard.
During the meeting, the Minister informed the Ambassador that Nepal had already decided to support Saudi Arabia's candidacy for hosting World Expo-2030.
