Sanima plans to spend Rs 6.3m on social work

KATHMANDU, AUG 16:

Sanima Bank, a class ‘A’ financial institution promoted by non-resident Nepalis, is spending Rs 6.3 million this fiscal year on philanthropy. It had spent Rs 2.5 million on philanthropic activities in the last fiscal year.

“The amount that we are spending this year is around 2.07 per cent of the net profit generated in the last fiscal year,” CEO of Sanima Bank Kamal Lamsal said. Sanima’s philanthropic activities focus on education, self employment and health sectors and funds are given to underprivileged groups.

Sanima last year provided scholarships to a total of 28 students in various parts of the country and spent Rs 1.2 million on the purpose. It also provided training to 35 underprivileged youths across the country and spent Rs 700,000 on the purpose. Likewise, it provided free eye treatment to 67 individuals and spent Rs 600,000 on the purpose.

“We hope we are fulfiling our corporate social responsibility by giving back a portion of what we earn to the society,” Lamsal said.
