Sanima Bank announces journalism award

Sanima Bank, a class ‘A’ financial institution promoted by non-resident Nepalis (NRNs), has announced the ‘Sanima National Journalism Award’ of Rs 500,000 on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
“The prize will be awarded every year to journalists individually or jointly for their contribution to the journalism,” a press statement issued here today quoted Bhuwan Dahal, chief executive officer of the bank as saying. “The prize shall be distributed in coordination with entities or individuals associated with this sector.”
The cash prize is one of the largest amounts among the prizes established to award journalists in Nepal.
Sanima Bank commenced its operation in 2004 as a national level development bank (class ‘B’ financial institution) and upgraded as a commercial bank in February 2012, according to the statement.
“At present the bank has mobilised deposits worth Rs 26.93 billion against loans of Rs 23.38 billion through 37 branches across the country and has been providing direct employment to 612 individuals.”
The bank claims that with lowest non performing loans (NPL) in the industry, it is in the list of top banks in terms of other financial indicators and corporate governance as well.
The bank is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Sunday.
