Sajha Yatayat has commenced bus service on a new route from Thursday to connect the inner urban area with Kathmandu city, including Lalitpur. Sajha is about to start service on Lalitpur's Lele-Tikabhairav-Chapagaun-Thecho-Sunakothi-Lagankhel-Jawalakhel-Kupandol-Tripureshwor-N.A.C-Jamal-Purano Buspark (Ratnapark) route.
After purchasing 40 new electric buses, Sajha Yatayat is expanding its service to new routes. Earlier, Sajha had started the 'Hop on Hop off' bus service targeting heritage areas in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and also started electric bus service from Patandhoka to Gyaneshwor-Jorpati (Dakshindhoka) via Ratnapark.
Forty battery-operated buses made by China Hi-Tech Group Corporation were bought by Sajha at a cost of Rs. 61,83,45,732. On 30 Ashad 2076, the then KP Oli-led government decided to provide Rs. 3 Arba to the Sajha Yatayat Cooperative to encourage electric public transport.
Sajha Yatayat, which has formed a study team to purchase 60-80 more buses through an international competition from this budget, is requesting land from the federal government for a charging depot.
The 'Hop on Hop Off' bus services that had begun free of charge initially for promotion, has now set prices at Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 for one day and two-day ticket, respectively.
