Russia eyes investment on hydropower
KATHMANDU, June 1:
Russia has shown its keen interest in hydropower and infrastructure development in Nepal.
Russia can invest in hydropower and infrastructure development in Nepal as it is the key transit point between China and India,” said Russian ambassador to Nepal Dr Sergei V Velichkin during the meeting with Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) office bearers here in the valley.
“However, enough information between Nepal and Russia has to be disseminated,” he added.
A delegation led by NCC’s president Suresh Kumar Basnet met Russian ambassador for Nepal Dr Sergei V Velichkin and Nepali ambassador to Russia Surya Kiran Gurung today and discussed on prospects of Russian investment in Nepal.
Basnet on the occasion, emphasised on promotion of bilateral trade between Nepal and Russia.
“Nepal can export goods like carpet, garment, pashmina, handicrafts, tea, and coffee to Russia,” he said, adding that there is also a huge opportunity for the investment in Nepal by Russia in tourism sector, hydropower, transportation, infrstructure, waste management and other service sectors.
