Rs. 29 billion income to state from forest

BIRATNAGAR, May 21: Nepal will make an income of Rs. 29 billion annually if scientific forest management is implemented.

Regional Forest Director Dr. Rajan Kumar Pokhrel said this at an interaction with media persons organized here today.

On the occasion, he said the demand of the people for timber will be fulfilled by introducing modern forest management in Morang from next October.

He said forest will be conserved by dividing the Latijhoda forest area of Morang in eight parts and working in each part for ten years and it will also establish the right to forest of the people of southern border areas.

Chief of the District Forest Office Morang Shri Prasad Baral informed that fire line was made in forest areas of Morang and it was helpful to protect forest from fire. He urged the media persons for playing supportive role in forest management.

Assistant Forest Office Janak Padhya said if the management is enforced, timber price will be Rs. 2400 cu. ft. Some 20 journalists of dailies, weeklies, TVs and FMs were present in the interaction.
