Rs 2.35 billion in Swiss grant for road and family nutrition
KATHMANDU,April 4:
The Government of Switzerland has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs 2.35 billion (22 million Swiss francs) to the Government of Nepal to improve family nutrition and implement rural road development projects.
Family nutrition and resilience of smallholders will be improved through the Home Garden Project. Likewise, a road project will improve and maintain over 3,000 km of existing rural district roads and make them operable the year round. Home Garden Project has a specific focus on the disadvantaged and marginal farm households to diversify their farm production for better dietary supplement and at the same time promote local crops and varieties that are resilient to potential climate hazards.
The project aims to reach at least 40,000 marginal farm households in 20 districts and will be implemented by the Vegetable Development Division of the Ministry of Agriculture Development. Likewise the road project will be implemented by the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development.
