RMDC conducts interaction event with Cooperatives in Bardiya; representatives from 31 cooperatives gather to learn about financial accessibility

RMDC Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. has interacted with leaders and officials of financial cooperatives in Bardiya on the issue of financial accessibility to the poor in respective district. The interaction program was commenced at Bansgadhi in Bardiya district on 13th, Falgun 2076. 53 participants from 31 financial Cooperatives participated in the discussion. Mr. Jyoti Chandra Ojha, the CEO of RMDC, chaired the formal session whereas Mr. Laxmi Prasad Sharma, BoD of National Cooperative Federation and Secretary of District Cooperative Federation and Mr. Khadak Bahadur Khadka, Chairman of Cooperative Network in Bardiya were the other guests in the session. Mr. Bharat Kumar Singh, manager to the RMDC Kahalpur Branch, casted vote of thanks to the participants for their participation on short notice. He also expressed his views on the importance of cooperatives in permeating financial services to the poor and the role that RMDC can play being the partner of those cooperatives.

Mr. Jyoti Chandra Ojha, CEO of RMDC, presented the proposition of it's inception followed by it's mission, vision and goal. He also had discussed working methodology of RMDC. Participants were informed about the procedure of capacity building through training and exposure visits, consultation services through regular supervision/monitoring and different credit facilities that RMDC offers to it's partners.

Participants from different cooperatives also discussed on many issues relating to malpractices and unhealthy competition going among cooperatives and MFIs, their effects to the members and socio-cultural environment.

Mr. Nawaraj Adhikari, Chairman of Bansgadhi Pipalbot SCO and Mr. Ganesh Thapa, Manager of Hamro Madhyawarti SCO shared their experiences and benefits being the partner of RMDC. Mr. Laxmi Prasad Sharma and Khadak Bahadur Khadka shared experience on cooperatives and benefits of external borrowing in the case of proper utilization. The interaction program was signed off by Mr. Jyoti Chandra Ojha with his closing remarks. Mr. Sushil Ghimire, Jr.officer from RMDC was the toastmaster of the program.
