Remittance has not been in govt priority: Entrepreneurs

KATHMANDU,  JULY 6: 

As much as 56 per cent households have been benefited from remittance in the country.

However, the government has not given priority to the foreign employment though the remittance has been contributing to 23 percent of the gross domestic production in the country, complained entrepreneurs during the inaugural programme of the Second Convention of the Progressive Foreign Employment Forum, Nepal here in the capital on Thursday.

Inaugurating the programme, Chairman of the CPN-UML, Jhalanath Khanal, said the foreign employment has been a compulsion and that it should be well managed, transparent and dignified. 

He also urged to abide by the code of conduct to provide facilities to Nepali workers in the foreign lands as per their labour and skill.

In a different note, UML Chairman Khanal said the peace and constitution writing processes were not institutionalised when the Unified CPN-Maoist could not realise the wave of the democratic transformation and moved towards totalitarianism.

Chairman of the Forum, Bal Bahadur Tamang demanded that the upcoming budget should manage funds for establishing training centers in all the development regions in the country to produce capable workers.

The other speakers of the programme blamed that various groups take the Nepali people for foreign jobs to third countries through India have been defaming foreign employment entrepreneurs and stressed on ending the system of keeping foreign consultants.
