Regulars boost up confidence, Nepse gains 4.07 points

The investors seem to have regained little faith in the market following the regulators’ move to ensure improvement in the securities market, as benchmark index went up by 4.07 points, this week -January 8 to 12.
Last week, High Level Financial Sector Coordination Committee has directed to pursue full automation of Nepal Stock Exchange in order to stimulate the stock market.
On Sunday morning the stock market opened at 319.55 points that descended to 317.03 points by the end of trading. The index moved up to 319.62 points by Tuesday. The index continued its climb next two days reaching 323.62 points by the end of the week.
Nepse’s trading floor witnessed the trading of 1,482,760 unit shares of 111 companies on 6025 transactions worth Rs 166 million in five trading days, this week. This is 32.57 per cent increase in trading volume as compared to that of last week.
Among the total transactions, the trading of blue chip stocks of class ‘A’ companies consisted of 49.33 per cent amounting to Rs 81.8 million.
The sensitive index that measures the Class-A companies’ performance went up by 0.97 points reaching 80.29 points at the end of the week. The float index that measures the performance of actual shares traded also increased by 0.26 points to 25.69 points.
This week, except for trading, hotels and development banks rest of the subgroups earned points.
Thanks to National Hydropower Company, hydropower subgroup earned 19.99 points. Insurance companies’ index also went up by 11.01 points. Commercial banks, manufacturing and finance companies also went up by 5.45 points, 6.22 points and 0.89 points, respectively. Others subgroup also earned 4.69 points as Nepal Telecom
The biggest loser of the week was Trading as Bishal Bazaar Company’s share price went down by Rs 198 per unit share pulling the subgroup down by 35.14 points. Development banks and hotels subgroup also went down by 5.01 points and 0.57 points, respectively.
Hydropower and insurance companies lost 5.74 and 5.04 points, respectively. Likewise, finance companies and development banks went down by 0.89 points and 1.2 points, respectively.
National Hydropower Company was forerunner both in terms of transaction amount and number of shares traded with the trading of 1,060,295 unit shares worth Rs 590 million. Gurans Life Insurance was fore runner in number of transaction with 478 transactions.
The top five performers of the week are National Hydropower (Rs 50.99 million), Bank of Kathmandu (Rs 31.56 million), Everest Bank (Rs 15.70 million), Standard Chartered Bank (Rs 9.71 million) and Nabil Bank (Rs 6.22 million).
This week, 1.37 million units of bonus shares and 287,653 units of right shares of different financial institutions got listed in the stock exchange.
