RBB starts machine cash deposit service

The Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) has good news for its clients using its ATM services on the occasion of its 48th anniversary.
With the start of this service from Wednesday, the RBB ATM card-holders can now also deposit money in their accounts through the ATM.
RBB has installed a machine for depositing the money at its central office at Singha Durbar Plaza, becoming the second commercial bank to start this service in the country.
The RBB account-holder can deposit 40 bank notes of Rs. 100, Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 denomination at a time. The clients can deposit money in their accounts by typing the 12-digit account number into the machine's keypad.
Finance Minister Barshaman Pun inaugurated the service amidst a function held here today. Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Pun gave a stern warning to the bank employees not to indulge in politics.
"The government this fiscal year alone mobilised a capital of seven billion rupees in order to make RBB a model bank; is it okay to indulge in politics while getting the pay from the bank?"
The Finance Minister directed the bank to invest in the sectors identified by the government as the priority sectors. He denied the government has interfered with the board of governors of the bank.
RBB has collected deposits of Rs. 85 billion until the current fiscal year. Of the deposit, Rs. 43 billion has been issued as loan while Rs. 24 has been invested in different sectors.
RBB has 141 branches covering the entire country. It has also become successful in making its capital fund which had been in the negative since 12 years to register positive growth.
Chief Executive Officer of the bank Krishna Prasad Sharma said the bank's deposit has increased to reach ten billion rupees and the loan investment to seven billion rupees. He added that the bank has been making profit since the last nine years and the objective this year was to make a profit of Rs. 1.75 billion.
CEO Sharma further said that RBB has also set up the Agricultural and Social Banking Division this year in line with its policy of increasing investments in the productive sectors and in the rural development sector.
He added that the bank has the objective of investing Rs. 4.5 billion in the agriculture sector and one billion rupees for the deprived section.
He also said that the bank plans to gradually re-establish its branch offices that were displaced during the conflict period.
Sharma announced that the Civil Servants Loan scheme has been started targeted at the civil servants.
On the occasion, the presidents of the three employees' organisations at the bank demanded that the bank's profits be shared with the employees.
Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, honoured former Deputy General Manager Khem Ranjan Baral, the senior employees of RBB and the outstanding branch offices.
