RBB reinstates Pharping branch

KATHMANDU, July 14: As part of its mission to reinstate branch offices which were merged, relocated or withdrawn during the conflict, Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB) on Monday reopened its Pharping branch.
RBB chairman Nara Hari Dhakal inaugurated the reinstated branch amid a ceremony on Monday. This is the 153rd branch of the bank. RBB has presence in 65 districts across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dhakal said the back was reinstating branches in a bid to serve people in every nook and corner of the country. “Being a people´s bank which is fully owned by the government, we want to provide modern banking services to people as we believe in financial inclusion,” he added.
Krishna Prasad Sharma, CEO of the bank, said the bank reinstated Pharping branch as per the demand of the local people. “We are preparing to reinstate all branches that were merged, withdrawn and relocated and equip them with modern technologies. Our objective will be to provide inclusive banking service,” he said.
The bank had withdrawn the branch a decade ago citing security threats.
Out of 100 branch offices which were merged or withdrawn during insurgency, the bank has already reinstated 35 branch offices.
RBB has serving more than 1.7 million customers in 65 districts of the country through 155 branches with Any Branch Banking Service, 10 counters, 9 branchless banking and 80 ATM outlets.
