Ration card in offing: Bhatta

KATHMANDU, NOV 15: 

Ministry of Commerce and Supplies today released white paper pledging to distribute ration card to provide food stuffs and petroleum products at low cost to the citizen.

“The ministry will prepare ration card within a month in coordination with other ministries to give relief to the people,” secretary of the ministry Purushottam Ojha said, adding that the ministry will distribute the ration card to the public within three months.

Issuing the white paper, minister for commerce and supplies Lekh Raj Bhatta also pledged to establish Herb Collection and Processing Centre at Surkhet and Ginger Processing Plant at Kakarbhitta.

The government is also planning to increase export of tea, coffee, and Chyangra Pasmina, he said, releasing the white paper that has also announced trade agreement with Bhutan, bilateral talks on TIFA with United States of America and construction of well facilitated exhibition ground in Kathmandu. 

The white paper also promised to formulate import policy to regulate import sector as the country has been witnessing huge imports. “The ministry will expedite its effort to construct pipeline between Nepal and India and start contract review between Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and sign new agreement,” Ojha added.
