Rathnija Arandara Appointed IFC Resident Representative for Nepal to Boost Investment and Development Impact
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, has appointed Rathnija Arandara as the new Resident Representative for Nepal. Based in Kathmandu, Arandara will lead IFC's strategic efforts to expand investment and advisory portfolios across critical sectors including infrastructure, digital services, tourism, and finance. A Sri Lankan national, Arandara brings over a decade of experience within the World Bank Group, having previously contributed to advancing financial inclusion and agribusiness in South Asia.
She has also worked at PwC Indonesia, Oracle AG, and Sri Lanka’s National Development Bank. IFC has committed nearly $700 million over the past five years in Nepal, supporting SMEs, green energy, and inclusive financial growth. In fiscal year 2024 alone, IFC allocated $84 million to transformative projects in infrastructure, agribusiness, and finance sectors. The appointment reflects IFC's broader mission to promote sustainable development and private sector growth in emerging markets like Nepal.
