Rasuwagadhi Flood Disrupts Nepal-China Trade, NCC Urges Swift Government Action

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) reported severe damage due to last Tuesday’s heavy rainfall in Timure, Rasuwagadhi, a major Nepal-China trade route. The flooding destroyed the Nepal-China Friendship Bridge and swept away several container trucks, causing major trade losses. The Chamber expressed deep concern over the human and material impact, urging the government to intensify search and rescue efforts, begin immediate infrastructure reconstruction, and establish long-term structural measures.
NCC emphasized the urgent need for relief operations, construction of an alternative bridge, and better technical preparedness. Warning of the serious implications on imports and exports, the Chamber called for policy reforms and permanent solutions to avoid future disruptions at border points.
Additionally, NCC continues to support Nepal’s business community by promoting trade, organizing events, issuing export certificates, and providing training and market research. It plays a key role in policy advocacy, dispute resolution, and economic development through its collaboration with the government and private sector.
