Rabi Lamichhane, Balen Shah Seal Seven-Point Deal Ahead of HoR Elections
Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra (Balen) Shah have reached a seven-point agreement to form an electoral alliance for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5, 2026. The agreement was finalized early Sunday morning after nearly a week of negotiations, formally ending talks between the two sides.
As per the agreement, Balen Shah will serve as the parliamentary party leader and prime ministerial candidate following the HoR elections, while Lamichhane will continue as the party chairperson. The alliance will contest elections under the existing RSP name, flag, and election symbol. The signing ceremony was attended by senior leaders from both sides. Following the agreement, Lamichhane said the consensus was guided by national interest rather than individual ambition, while Balen acknowledged the deal with a brief social media post.
