PROFTI BOOKING PREVAILS TODAY ALSO

The profit booking from the investors today also dragged the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), as the market index plummeted by 9.64 points to close at 539.28 levels. From the beginning of the trade, the market was all in losing streak as the local bourse traded two points below the yesterday’s closing and then gradually decreased to settle at today’s closing.

The decline in the benchmark index for subsequent two trading days following the huge surge of 4.85% in the beginning of the week indicates that the investors those who had bought the scrips in the lowers levels are profit taking in their investment resulting in the tumble of the benchmark index in the current scenario.

Despite the fall, the turnover today also was in the high figures suggesting a healthy participation of the investors in the market. Overall, 578,885 units of shares were traded by 1189 transactions worth Rs 148,193,533; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 519,453.69 million.

Altogether there were trade of eight sectors which all plunge than that of previous day’s closing. Banking today also plummeted by 12.37 points following the drop in the levels of Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), Himalayan Bank Ltd. (HBL), Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI) by Rs 63, Rs 40, Rs 26, Rs 20 and Rs 20 respectively. Similarly, Development and Finance also derail by 1.65 and 0.94 points respectively.

Whereas, descent in the value of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 300 dragged the Manufacturing by 15.57 points. Likewise, Insurance also came down by double digit number of 13.82 points following a decline in Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN) and Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIC) by Rs 76, Rs 19 and Rs 13 respectively.

While, tumble in all the scrips traded under Hydro i.e. Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) dropped Rs 18, Rs 2 and Rs 20 respectively, pushed the sector further south by 14.67 points. As for Hotels and Others, both also stumble by 0.57 and 9.4 points respectively following the plummet in the levels of the Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH) and Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) respectively.

Overall there were only 93 scrips traded among which 18 scrips increased 8 remained intact and 67 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, ICFC Finance Limited (IFIC), closed at Rs 134, with Rs 9 or 7.20% gain. Whereas, Machhachapuchhre Bank Limited Promotor Share  (MBLPO), closed at Rs 90, was the highest loser with Rs 8 or 8.16%. Similarly, the scrip also topped in highest shares traded and turnover with 221,384 units worth Rs 21,353,337.

In terms of highest share traded and turnover among the ordinary shares, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd.  (NBB), closed at Rs 302, topped with 63,608 units worth Rs 19,004,724 via 113 transactions; in which Broker no 28 (Shree Krishna Securities Limited) was the most active Broker with 36.17% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 22,990 units worth Rs 6,875,600 via 26  buying transactions.
