PROFIT-TAKING LIMITS NEPSE GAIN TO 0.37 POINT

The market’s double digit rally came to halt today as the heavy profit-taking in the recent gainers limited the benchmark gain to 0.37 point. The local bourse closed at 972.85 level today.
Insurance scrips, which had witnessed massive incline in prior days, saw most of the profit-booking today as 13 insurance scrips suffered loss out of 21 traded scrips. Following which insurance sector came to dip by 99.65 points.
Though insurance scrips along with banking, hotels and development shares in the initial hour were trading in higher level, the profit-taking in latter hour diluted most of the mentioned sub-groups’ share price that led to decline in above sub-groups and market index.
The local bourse, which had reached 977 level in the beginning, latter nearly settle below the red terrain. However, the increase in the Others sector in the ending hour help keep the Nepse index above green terrain.
Others index gained 8.22 points today while Banking, Hotels and Development dropped by 0.05 point, 28.73 points and 1.88 points respectively.
As for, Hydro and Finance, both incremented by 49.32 points and 19.82 points respectively.
All in all, the scrips of 141 companies were traded, out of which 61 scrips gained, 14 remained intact and 66 scrips lost.
The best performer for the day were, Everest Insurance Co. Ltd. (EIC), closed at Rs 1034, H & B Development Bank Ltd. (HBDL), closed at Rs 110, and Synergy Finance Ltd (SYFL), closed at Rs 99, with 10 percent gain each i.e. Rs 94, Rs 10 and Rs 9 respectively. Whereas, Asian Life Insurance Co. Limited (ALICL), closed at Rs 1125, was the worst performer today with Rs 75 or 6.25 percent loss.
In terms of turnover, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), closed at Rs 526, had the highest turnover today. Altogether, 173,554 share units of AHPC were traded through 396 transactions worth Rs 87,574,170.
The broker with the highest standalone dealing of the AHPC was Broker No 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) with 17.16 percent totaling 61,107 shares trade amounting Rs 30,057,497 via 132 transactions, which include seven matching transactions tallying 7,440 share units worth Rs 3,516,600.
The market turnover today stood at Rs 690,371,650, with total number of shares traded at 1,500,923 units which were traded through 4,104 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 992,532.46 Millions.
