PROFIT BOOKING IN NEPSE

After making a huge rally of 25.73 or 4.85% in the prior trading day, today the market index made correction by 7.01 or 1.2% to close at 548.92. Following the news of consensus among the parties, the local bourse witnessed 5% circuit breaker to reach 38 months high in the previous trading day. Today also same kind of movement was expected but the benchmark index after making a height of approx 569 levels began to plunge to close below the opening level.

The heavy selling pressure in the scrips, of those which incremented approximately 10% in the previous day, mainly contributed to the Nepse downward movement. Despite the tumble, the confidence of the investors towards the market stood strong compared to the previous trading day as the market today made a record breaking turnover of Rs 256,322,326 which is the second highest turnover in the history of Nepse following the turnover of Rs 271,289,793 set on 26th April, 2012. In overall 535,901 units of share were traded by the 2,274 transactions.

Altogether there were trade of seven sectors, Banking and Others were only sectors that plunge by 11.9 and 2.35 points respectively. Under Banking, Laxmi Bank Limited (NIB), Grand Bank Nepal Ltd. (Grand), Sanima Bank Ltd. (Sanima), Agricultural Development Bank Ltd (ADBL), Lumbini Bank Ltd. (LBL) and Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB) suffered loss worth more than 5% i.e. Rs 26, Rs 15, Rs 18, Rs, 16, Rs 16 and Rs 43 respectively.

While Insurance ascended by 6.62 points following the incline in the level of Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIC), Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd. (SICL) and Life Insurance Co. Nepal (LICN) by Rs 92, Rs 30 and Rs 19 respectively. Similarly, the boost in the value of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) and Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) helped to increase the Insurance sector up by 0.54 points. Likewise, Development and Finance surge by 1.38 and 2.1 points respectively. As for Hotels, it remained intact at 661.08 levels.

Overall there were only 80 scrips traded among which 36 scrips increased 4 remained intact and 40 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIC), closed at Rs 1028, with Rs 92 or 9.83% gain. Whereas, Subhechha Bikas Bank Limited (SUBBL), closed at Rs 110, was the highest loser with Rs 12 or 9.84%.

In terms of highest share traded, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd.  (NBB), closed at Rs 311, topped with 75,376. In case of highest turnover, Bank of Kathmandu  (BOK), closed at Rs 720, topped with 37,504 units worth Rs 27,914,812 via 216 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 16.16% stand alone dealing of BOK, tallying 6,046 units worth Rs 4,510,398 via 23 transactions which includes 6 matching transactions totaling 2,750 units worth Rs 2,035,450.
