Prez extends deadline by six more days

KATHMANDU, DEC 07 -

President Ram Baran Yadav has extended the deadline to settle all the thorny issues including national consensus government formation, holding election, among others, by six more days on Friday.

The president extended the deadline for the third time following the request by the four major political parties.

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had reached Shital Niwas representing the major parties this morning.

It has been reported that Dahal requested the president to extend the deadline as per the decision taken by the top guns on Thursday after they failed to arrive at consensus to nominate the common candidate to lead a national unity government even on the eve of the seven-day deadline set by the president.

Earlier, President Yadav had issued a formal call to the political parties to form a national unity government , within a week, as per the Article 38(1) of the Interim Constitution.
