Press council Nepal to take strong action against journalists and media disseminating fake news about Covid 19; urges all responsible citizens to report such practices to the council

Press Council Nepal has urged all the media houses and the reporters/journalists working in those media to follow the Journalist’s code of ethics as prescribed by the council in 2073 and amended in 2076.

The council has released a media statement warning the journalists and media houses not to disseminate the fake news or not to publish / broadcast any unverified news about the ongoing Coronavirus issue that may cause a situation of panic and fear among the masses.

The council has reminded the media houses and journalists about the possible actions the council would take in case they are found disseminating such baseless information whereas has requested everyone to report such baseless reports to the council via http://complain.presscouncilnepal.org or via writing to pcnmediamonitoring@gmail.com.
