Power supply was disrupted in parts of Tanahun, Gorkha and Chitwan districts after a technical problem occurred in a 12 MVA power transformer at the Nepal Electricity Authority’s 220/132/33 KV substation in Markichowk, Aanbukhairani Rural Municipality-2 of Tanahun.

According to the NEA’s Tanahun Distribution Centre, the outage began at 5:32 pm on Wednesday following excessive current flow caused by a fault in the transformer’s earthing system. Although technicians restored the transmission line at 12:45 am, repeated problems forced the transformer to be shut down again at 6:47 am on Thursday.

A technical team from the NEA’s Pokhara Grid Division has been deployed to repair the substation, while efforts are underway to resume electricity supply through an alternative power grid, said Information Officer Beni Nepali.
