POLITICAL DEADLOCK EFFECTS NEPSE

The inability of the political parties to provide break through even after coming in terms to form the Chief Justice led government has made the investors cautious to enter into the secondary market. Following the positive development of political consensus among the four major parties propelled the investors’ confidence however the objection from the other parties and the Nepal Bar Association have created a doubt about the implementation of the same. In the midst of all this, the local bourse today suffered 5.58 points to close at 538.51 levels.
Among the sub-indices, Hotels surged by 8.13 points following the jump in the price of Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 5. While, the double digit tumbles in the prices of Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), Lumbini Bank Ltd. (LBL), Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Nepal SBI Bank Limited (NSBI), Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB) and Himalayan Bank Ltd (HBL), dragged the Banking sector by 6.09 points. Similarly, Development and Finance also plummeted by 1 and 0.73 points respectively.
Likewise, fall in the scrips of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC), Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 2, Rs 18 and Rs 24 respectively contributed to the loss of 21.75 points in Hydro. Whereas, decline in the value of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 200 resulted in the drop of 10.38 points in Manufacturing. As for Insurance and Others, both plunge by 9.66 and 7.05 points respectively.
Overall there were only 85 scrips traded among which 15 scrips increased 13 remained intact and 57 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Manakamana Development Bank Limited (MKDBL), closed at Rs 71, with Rs 3 or 4.41% gain. Whereas, Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-1 (SIGS1), closed at Rs 11.91, was the highest loser with Rs 1 or 9.50%.
In terms of highest share trade and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 319, topped with 66,693 units worth Rs 20,590,348 via 112 transactions; in which Broker no 50 (Crystal Kanchanjungha Securities Pvt. Ltd. Premier Securities Company Limited) was the most active Broker with 34.94% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 23,313 units worth Rs 7,195,921 via 23 selling transactions.
Altogether, 230,170 units of shares were traded via 1,039 transactions worth Rs 77,683,824.
