PMO team takes stock of progress in road construction

KATHMANDU, Jan 2:

Following the slow progress of road maintenance in Nagdhunga road section, the Prime Ministers´ Office (PMO) has directed the responsible authority to speed up the repair work.

Monitoring the ongoing work in Nagdhunga-Naubise road section, PMO secretary Krishna Hari Banskota also directed the Department of Road to first mend the potholes before beginning the blacktopping. He also directed the office to open new tracks in Khatri Pauwa.

While only few labors were found working at the Jhyaple River, the maintenance work near Ganesh temple had come to a halt.

Similarly, the construction work was also halted at Sikre River, Yak Ghar and other three places. Banskota also raised concern over broken-down vehicles on the highway that worsened traffic management problem on the busy road.

Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Tulsi Sitaula, who was also part of the monitoring team, said that hectic traffic in Nagdhunga-Naubise road section would ease soon as the contractors have been asked to work on only one lane at a time.

He also assured that the construction would begin within a week in those places where the work has been delayed due to labor shortage.
