PM Balendra Shah And New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon Discuss Search and Relief Efforts After Bhotekoshi Flood

Prime Minister Balendra Shah and his New Zealand counterpart Christopher Luxon held a telephone conversation and discussed Nepal’s ongoing response to the Bhotekoshi flood disaster.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Shah briefed Luxon on the intensified search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts following the disaster. He said authorities were continuing the search for missing foreign nationals, including New Zealand citizens, as a high priority.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Shah expressed gratitude to the New Zealand government and Prime Minister Luxon for providing humanitarian assistance worth NZD 2 million to support Nepal’s disaster response.

Shah also highlighted Nepal’s vulnerability to climate-induced disasters and expressed hope that New Zealand would play a constructive role in international efforts to secure financial support for climate-related loss and damage.

Luxon expressed his sadness over the difficult situation faced by Nepal and conveyed condolences and solidarity from the Government and people of New Zealand, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
