KATHMANDU, JAN 20:

The government has decided to provide Rs 237 million to various Public Enterprises (PEs).

PEs will manage administrative cost from the fund, said joint secretary of the finance ministry Khum Raj Punjali. “Janakpur Cigarette Factory, Nepal Drugs Limited, Gorakhkali Rubber Udyog Ltd, Nepal Oriend and Magnesite Ltd, Nepal Metal Company, and National Productivity and Economic Development Center will receive money from the government to run administrative activities.”

The ministry was compelled to release the fund despite the ministry’s stand to release the fund only after seeking an alternative to run those PEs, an official at the ministry said, adding that the Ministry of Industry has been studying the possibilities of bringing the private sector to run closed PEs.
