KATHMANDU, MAY 25 -

The Public Enterprises Board ( PEB ) has started the appointment sequence in a number of pubic enterprises, and as a first step has recommended the names of three candidates for the post of general manager of Nepal Water Supply Corporation (NWSC).

The suggested applicants are Sanjaya Bikram Rana, Hari Dhakal and Arjun Dhakal. All of them are engineers and have worked at NWSC in the past, said the PEB . The Cabinet will pick one of them to be the general manager of NWSC.

The PEB was formed to select candidates for the top posts in state-owned enterprises on a competitive basis. It has been planning to recommend candidates for the general manager’s post at Deposit and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DCGC) shortly. The board has shortlisted five from among 10 candidates and fixed the date for the interview and presentation for next week.

The selected candidates are Muktinath Poudel, Dandapani Poudel, Bishworaj Kadel, Omkar Nidhi Tiwari and Shiva Hari Shrestha.

Dandapani Poudel was earlier involved in Nepal Rastra Bank while Tiwari is a retiree from Rastriya Beema Sansthan. “We  will recommend three names from among them to the Cabinet next week,” said Wagle.

Appointment of the executive chief at the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) is the next item on the agenda, according to Wagle. Seven candidates have applied for the post. Former general manager Shankar Man Singh and current acting general manager Pramod Bhattarai are among the applicants. The other candidates are Sitaram Thapaliya, Bhupendra Gyawali, Dhruba Timalsina, Dilli Raj Aryal and Gobardan Khadka.

A dozen candidates have applied for the post of general manager at Nepal Food Corporation. They are Krishna Bahadur Ghimire, Kamal Prasad Regmi, Shiva Hari Shrestha, Pashupati Gautam, Dillidhwoj Karki, Binaya Hari Maske, Laxmi Kanta Poudel, Keshar Bahadur Karki, Lok Bahadur Khadka, Ram Dev Yadav, Purna Shankar Basi and Gopal Ghimire.

Meanwhile, the PEB has issued a fresh vacancy notice for the post of general manager of Gorkhapatra Sansthan after it received only three applications to its earlier announcement, providing no condition for competition. Since the PEB has to recommend three candidates to the Cabinet, there was no opportunity to choose. The three lonely candidates were the current officiating editor of Gorkhapatra daily Puskar Mathema, journalist Ram Humagain and Milan Gartaula.
