Panel monitors road expansion projects

KATHMANDU,July 5 :

Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion High-level Monitoring Committee monitored roads that are being built inside the valley on Saturday. The monitoring committee has informed that the Department of Roads, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and High Power Committee for Integrated Development of Bagmati Civilization have blacktopped 65 km, 17 km and 4 km road and 86 km road black-topped in total.

After monitoring the road, convener of the monitoring committee and secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) Krishna Hari Baskota has directed the authorities concerned to complete the 111 km road within the current fiscal year to meet the target set by the government.

The committee monitored Maitighar-Tinkune road section, Naxal-Bhatbhateni-Baluwatar-Maharajgunj road section and Maharajginj- Golfutar road section on Saturday. Baskota has expressed dissatisfaction over the slow construction work at Maharajginj-Golfutar road section and said the government will charge penalty if it has to extend the time. He suggested the contractor to complete the work within given timeframe.
