Over 2,500 Vehicles Penalized in Kathmandu for Traffic Rule Violations in 24 Hours
A total of 2,535 vehicles were penalized in the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours for violating various traffic regulations, according to the Kathmandu Traffic Police Office.
Traffic authorities said that fines collected from the violations generated more than Rs 1.9 million in revenue, which has been deposited into the state treasury.
Among the recorded violations, 101 cases involved drunk driving, while 129 drivers were penalized for unauthorized ride-sharing activities. Similarly, 106 motorists were fined for violating traffic signals, and 138 cases were recorded for speeding.
The traffic police also reported 81 cases of lane discipline violations, 141 incidents of unnecessary honking in restricted areas, and 117 cases of illegal roadside parking. In addition, 113 drivers were penalized for driving against one-way traffic rules.
Authorities stated that 1,609 other traffic-related violations were also recorded during the monitoring period, highlighting continued efforts to strengthen road discipline and improve traffic management across Kathmandu Valley.
