Over 181,000 New Voters Added Ahead of Local Elections - ECN
The Election Commission of Nepal has begun early preparations for the upcoming local elections, announcing that 181,367 new voters have registered over the past three months. These new voters were added to the system after the conclusion of the last House of Representatives elections. According to the commission's spokesperson, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai. For context, there were a total of 18,903,689 registered voters in the country during the last general election.
To get ready for the local elections, the commission is actively updating voter lists and reviewing the locations of polling stations and voting centers. These preparations were discussed during a recent meeting on June 18 between election officials and the National Assembly's committee focused on federalism and national concerns.
