One more succumbs to coronavirus infection with 12,000 plus cases in the country

The country reported a total of 554 new cases of coronavirus infection including 120 women on Saturday, the Ministry of Health and Population’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said in a regular press briefing on Saturday.

With this, the total number of the infected ones reached 12,309 in the country. Likewise, the coronavirus infection has spread in all 77 districts across the country. Dr. Gautam said that Rasuwa was the 77th district to witness cases. In Rasuwa, nine cases including eight women tested positive for the virus.

Similarly, 136 people were discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours after winning the battle against the virus. Of them, 18 are women. So far, 2,834 have returned home after complete recovery.

In the past 24 hours, altogether 4,606 people were tested through the PCR methods for the coronavirus from 22 laboratories across the country.

Dr. Gautam said that 3,685 individuals were tested through the RDT.

Likewise, 65,712 people are under quarantine facilities across the country while 9,447 people are kept in isolation.

One additional COVID death reported

One additional death from coronavirus infection has been reported in the country. The deceased is a 50-year-old male from Godawari municipality-7 of Kailali. He was suffering from lung cancer. With this, the death toll from coronavirus infection has reached 28.

Spokesperson Gautam said, "There are some ill-efforts underway to spread rumors regarding COVID-19 to fulfill some people's vested interests. We urge all to inform the ministry about such propaganda."

He informed some people are opting to spread a rumour that the virus removing card was discovered and if it was tied around the neck the coronavirus infection would be gone. Such sponsored rumor has drawn the attention of the ministry.
