One more person died of COVID-19 and 538 new cases found; total crosses 10,000 in the country

One more person died of coronavirus infection, the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed in a regular press brief. The latest victim of the COVID-19 is a 45-year-old man from Dullu Municipality-3 in Dailekh district, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said.

The man was receiving treatment in isolation of Province Hospital, Surkhet, and was a patient of tuberculosis and asthma. He was referred to Surkhet from Dullu last week. With this, the number of deaths caused by coronavirus infection has reached 24 in the country.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said that 538 new cases of coronavirus including 90 women were confirmed today. With the new number, the tally of coronavirus infected has reached 10,099 individuals including 984 women.

Dr. Gautam also shared that 76 infected individuals were discharged from different hospitals in the past 24 hours. So far, 2,124 coronavirus infected persons have recovered. Those discharged today are of Jhapa, Udayapur, Morang, Ramechhap, Saptari, Parsa, Nawalparasi districts.

Similarly, two men from Beni Hospital, three men from Dhaulagiri Hospital, three men from Syangja Hospital, seven men from Gorkha Hospital and two men from GP Koirala Hospital in Tanahun were also discharged after complete recovery from the virus.

Furthermore, a man of Kaski was discharged from HAMS Hospital and a man of Syangja from Kalika Hospital in Bhirkot was also discharged. Likewise, a man from Lamjung was discharged from Patan Academy of Health Sciences, and a woman of Syangja and three men of Kaski got discharged from Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences in the past 24 hours, Dr. Gautam said.

So far, a total of 186,366 individuals were tested for their coronavirus infection through PCR methods including 4,995 PCR tests in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry said that 85,813 people have been quarantined and 7851 are in isolation beds across the country.
