NTC DRAGS NEPSE

With the plummet in the price of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC), the market index today came down by 8.31 points. As NTC has the highest market capitalization in the stock market, the declines in its level of Rs 13 dampened the chances of Nepse making any upwards progress today. During the previous week also, the plunge in NTC by Rs 48 because of its book closure adversely affected the Nepse level as it dropped by more than 20 points.
The fall in the NTC also further pushed the Other sector south by 15.27 points. Likewise, Hotels also decreased by a double digit number of 17.02 points ; the fall in the price of Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) and Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) by Rs 10 and Rs 2 respectively mainly contributed to the sector loss. Similarly, the drop in the value of Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) and Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) by Rs 20 and Rs 7 respectively dragged the Hydro sector down by 14.81 points.
Whereas the descent in all the traded scrips under Insurance today crushed the sector further south by 13.18 points. Similarly, the fall in all the Banking scrips apart from the share of Standard Chartered Bank Ltd. (SCB), as it gained Rs 5, pulled the sector down by 9.2 points. The scrips of Nabil Bank Ltd. (NABIL), Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), Nepal Investment Bank Ltd. (NIB), NABIL Bank Limited Promotor Share (NABILPO), Bank of Kathmandu (BOK), Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), Himalayan Bank Ltd. (HBL) and Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB) suffered the loss of more than Rs 10 today.
Also, the Development sector skid by 2.18 points. Under this sector, the scrips of International Development Bank Ltd. were listed and traded from today onwards with the symbol ‘INDBL’. Only 2 transactions of the scrip were made at the price of Rs 108. Similarly, the scrips of Khandbari Dev. Bank Ltd. was also listed with the stock symbol ‘KHDBL’ today in the market. Whereas, the scrips of Kist Bank Limited (KIST) and Vibor Bikas Bank Limited (VBBL) were suspended for trading from today onwards as the companies are going for merge with one another.
Likewise, the trading of Kathmandu Finance Ltd. (KFL) and World Merchant Bank Ltd. (WMBF) resumed from today as the merger process of both companies was cancelled by the NRB. Before cancellation, KFL was in the merge process with Civil Merchant Bittya Sanstha (CMBSL) whereas, WMBF was in process with Kuber Merchant Finance Limited (KMBSL).
While, Finance and Manufacturing were the only sector with the gain of 1.14 and 9.65 points respectively. The jump in the level of Manufacturing was mainly because of the increase in the value of Uniliver Nepal Ltd. (UNL) by Rs 186.
Overall there was trade of 82 scrips among which only 13 scrips increased 8 remained intact and 61 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Western Development Bank Limited (WDBL), closed at Rs 82, with Rs 3 or 3.80% gain. Whereas the highest loser of the day was, Grand Bank Limited Promoter Share (GRANDP), closed at Rs 184, with Rs 19 or 9.36% loss. Among the ordinary shares trading above the par, United Finance Ltd (UFL), closed at Rs 166, was the top gainer with Rs 6 or 3.75% loss whereas, Clean Energy Development Bank Limited (CEDBL), closed at Rs 149, was the top loser with Rs 10 or 6.29%.
In case of the highest shares traded, Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-1 (SIGS1), closed at Rs 11.59, topped with 39,410 units. In terms of turnover, Nepal SBI Bank Limited (SBI), closed at Rs 838, topped with 16,454 units worth Rs 13,456,273 via 20 transactions; in which Broker no 17 (ABC Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active Broker with 78.55% stand alone dealing of SBI, tallying 12,967 units worth Rs 10,570,010 via 6 transactions which includes 5 matching transactions totaling 12,867 units worth Rs 10,487,010.
Altogether there were trade of 257,739 units of share via 1,183 transactions worth Rs 90,894,488; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 504,559.45 million.
