The market index today also continued to tumble as it fell by 2.66 points to close at 502.38 levels. After the trade in green terrain for few initial minutes, the benchmark index started to drop and continued to do so till the last hour following the plunge in the level of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC). Along with the drop in the level, the turnover in the market also came down by a huge figure of 33.87% compared to prior day’s trade.

The market turnover today stood at Rs 59,756,957 which is lower by Rs 30,600,037. Altogether 171,992 units of shares were traded via 942 transactions; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 489,798.02 Million.

Among the sub-indices, Banking finally today made a surge of 0.62 point. In banking today, Nepal Bank Ltd. has announced its book closure date for 1:9.5 right share as on 2070-01-26. Likewise, Hydro sector also followed the winning path with gain of 6.23 points. Whereas, Hotels today also remained intact at 642.22 levels.

While, two of the remaining Banking and Financial Institutions sub-indices, Development declined by 0.01 points and Finance descent by 0.6 points. In Development today, the scrip of Birat Laxmi Development Bank Ltd. (BLDBL) and Khandbari Development Bank Ltd. (KHDBL) were suspended from today onwards as the companies are going for merger process with each other. Similarly, Insurance also stumbled by 12.49 points. As for Others, the plummet in NTC by Rs 18 pulled the sector down by hefty 21.14 points.

Overall there were only 79 scrips traded among which 33 scrips increased 11 remained intact and 35     scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Zenith Finance Limited (ZFL), closed at Rs 95, with Rs  7 or 7.95% gain. Whereas, Subha Laxmi Finance Co. Ltd. (SLFL), closed at Rs 71, was the highest loser with Rs 3 or 4.05%.

Among the share trading above par value, Summit Micro Finance Development Bank Ltd. (SMFDB), closed at Rs 199, was the highest gainer with Rs 6 or 3.11% gain whereas Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC), closed at Rs 1255, was the top loser with Rs 50 or 3.83% loss.

In terms of highest share trade, National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC), closed at Rs 70, topped with 21350 units. Among the share trading above par, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 289, topped with 16,010 units.

In case of turnover, Nepal Investment Bank Ltd.  (NIB), closed at Rs 730, topped with 7,338 units worth Rs 5,317,585 via 40 transactions; in which Broker no 56 (Sri Hari Securities Pvt. Ltd.) was the most active Broker with 45% stand alone dealing of NIB, tallying 3,307 units worth Rs 2,392,989 via 14 buying transactions.
