NTC DRAGS NEPSE

Following the gain of 8.5 points of yesterday, the market index today again went down under by 4.07 points to close at 486.36 levels. The local bourse that opened above the prior day’s level, after the first 10 minutes trade, gradually started to fall with the decline in the level of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC). The scrip of NTC today came down by Rs 8 to close at Rs 532; being the company with highest market capitalization, the price movement in its share very much influential in the market index of Nepal as the index is constructed as per the value weighted method.

The plunge in NTC also dragged the Others by 9.4 points. As for other remaining sectors, Banking plunged by 4.01 points, Finance dropped 0.34 points, Insurance lost 5.93 points, Hydro plummeted by 11.6 points whereas Development was the only sub-index with growth of 0.3 points.
 
Overall there were only 79 scrips traded among which 23 scrips increased 14 remained intact and 42     scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Subhechha Bikas Bank Limited (SUBBL), closed at Rs 102, with Rs  9 or 9.68% gain. Whereas, Prime Life Insurance Company Limited (PLICL), closed at Rs 274, was the highest loser with Rs 42 or 13.29% loss.

In case of highest traded share and turnover, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), closed at Rs 532, topped with 140,540 units worth Rs 71,008,218 via 560 transactions; in which Broker no 28 (Shree Krishna Securities Limited) was the most active Broker with 80.76% stand alone dealing of NBL, tallying 65,080 units worth Rs 57,351,070 via 158 transactions which includes 20 matching transactions totaling 49,200 units worth Rs 24,649,970.

Altogether there were trade of 392,336 units of share via 1,297 transactions worth Rs 113,337,163; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 474,233.14 Millions.
