NTC DEFENDS NEPSE UPTREND ON 1ST TRADING DAY OF 2070

The opening of the market, after the new year, followed in the constructive path like that of the prior trading day as the local bourse climb up to the height of 256.3 levels. But soon after one hour of the session following the decline in the Banking scrips, the market gradually started to plunge; and near to the session end, the trade of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) at Rs 10 below the prior closing level dragged the Nepse in red terrain to close at 521.42 levels, suffering a loss of 1.99 points

The plummet in NTC also pulled the Others sector down by 11.75 points. Likewise, Banking declined by 1.15 points and Insurance tumbled by 0.93 points. Whereas two of the remaining Banking and Financial sub-indices i.e. Development Finance made a jump of 0.14 and 0.72 points respectively.

While, Hotels sector following the surge in the price of Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) and Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 2 and Rs 5 respectively propelled by 8.88 points. As for Hydro, it made ascent of 1.73 points, mainly contributed by the incline in Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 6.

Overall there were trade of 83 scrips among which 37 scrips increased 14 remained intact and 32 scrips decreased. The best performer for the day was, Multipurpose Finance Co. Ltd. (MPFL), closed at Rs 69, with Rs 6 or 9.52% gain. Whereas, Kumari Bank Limited Promoter Share (KBLPO), closed at Rs 125, was the worst performer with Rs 12 or 8.76% loss.

Among the ordinary scrips trading above par, Nepal Bank Limited , closed at Rs 758, was the top gainer with Rs 31 or 4.26% gain; with the news of floatation of 1:9.5 right share soon after mid-April in the market, the scrip has become one of the highly demanded securities. Whereas, Swabalamwan Bikash Bank (SWBBL), closed at Rs 312, was the highest loser with Rs 18 or 5.45% loss.

In case of the highest shares traded, Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-1  (SIGS1), closed at Rs 11.76, topped with 34,000 units. In terms of turnover, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), closed at Rs 1596, topped with 6,352 units worth Rs 10,137,589 via 35 transactions; in which Broker no 35 (Kohinoor Investment and Securities Pvt. Ltd) was the most active Broker with 33.04% stand alone dealing of EBL, tallying 2100 units worth Rs 3,349,500 via one matching transactions.

Altogether 247,928 units of shares were traded via 1,111 transactions worth Rs 82,553,512; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 506,400.11Millions.
