NTC and Chilime uplift NEPSE

After days of low movement in Nepal Stock Exchange, today the market index rocketed up by 6.24 or 1.49% points. The index had been trading between the range of 415 to 417 for more than one week. With the high buying pressure in the scrip of NTC it looks that the investors are expecting a hefty dividend from this company, its earning per share stand above Rs 91 as of the end of the fiscal year 2068/69. Gradually, the benchmark index was able to rise after floating below the opening level. Then near to the end of second hour, the increase in the scrip of Chilime Hydro Power Co. (CHCL) with the complementary from Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) further boosted the market index up.

 

All the three blue chip companies were able to add high amount in their respective tally. The scrip of NTC was able to add Rs 34 which also helped to uplift the Others sector by the astounding figure of 39.94 or 5.43% points. Likewise, CHCL and BPCL gained Rs 44 and Rs 15 respectively, aiding in Hydro sector double digit growth of 32.21 or 3.67%. Similarly, another sector that supported in Nepse climb today were Development and Insurance with 0.16  or 0.06% and 15.31 or 2.22% points respectively.

 

Under the Development sector, the increase in the Muktinath Bikas Bank Ltd. (MBBL) whose book closure is tomorrow, by Rs 27 and jump in the price of Triveni Bikas Bank Limited (TBBL) by Rs 12 helped the sector to maintain in green pasture. Whereas in Insurance sector, apart from Neco Insurance Co. (NIL) loss of Rs 2 and 3 scrips intact position all other remaining 11 scrips maintain a higher level than yesterday.

 

In manner the decliners for the day were Banking, Hotels and Finance sector, all skid by 0.86 or 0.24%, 2.72 or 0.49% and 0.26 or 0.10% points respectively. In Banking, Laxmi Bank Ltd. (LBL) has proposed 10% cash dividend which seems to be lower than investors expected as the market drop the scrip by Rs 26 to a level of Rs 300. Likewise in the Finance sector, today also Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) decline by Rs 16 mainly contributed to the sector loss.

 

As for other news today, after a successful merger process between Annapurna Bikas Bank Ltd. (ABBL)
and Suryadarshan Fin Co. Ltd (SDFL) , the company has resumed its trading with new name Supreme Development Bank Ltd. With stock symbol SUPRME.

 

Overall there were 91 scrips traded among which 45 scrips increased, 18 remain intact and 28 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was Guras Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (GLICL), closed at Rs 170, with Rs 15 or 9.68%. Whereas, Siddhartha Development Bank Limited (SDBL), closed at Rs 82, was the Top Loser with Rs 9 or 9.89%.Among the scrips traded above the par value, the Top Loser was Laxmi Bank Ltd (LBL), closed at Rs 300, with Rs 26 or 7.98%.

 

In terms of highest share traded and turnover, Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC), closed at Rs 660, topped with 25,830 units worth Rs 16,660,960 via 69 transactions; in which Broker no 6 (Agrawal Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 39.94% stand alone dealing of NTC, totaling 10,300 units worth Rs 6,654,450 via 714 transactions which includes 5 matching transactions of 7,890 units worth Rs 5,114,700.

 

The total turnover today was 74,305,917 which is comparatively Rs 16,215,584 or 27.91% higher than prior trading session. Overall 236,651 units of shares were traded via 1,439 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 401,058.90 Millions.
