NT fixes service limit for staff members
KATHMANDU, Dec 24:
Nepal Telecom (NT) has fixed service limit for its high ranking officials.
A meeting of the management committee of the state-owned operator held on Sunday took the decision.
The meeting also decided to bar managing directors from working in lower posts once their term comes to an end. At present, managing directors continue to work in lower posts even after the end of their term.
Buddhi Prasad Acharya, managing director of NT, said the management committee has decided to give retirement to staff members who have been working in the same post for a long period of time but have no chance of getting promotion. "This new arrangement will allow junior staff members to get promoted," Acharya.
The decision means top officials like Anoop Ranjan Bhattarai, Madhusudan Karmacharya and Jiban Ratna Shakya will get retirement.
Bhattarai, who served as the managing director for six months, is currently working at NT´s training center. Likewise, Karmacharya and Shakya have been working as deputy managing directors for the past five years.
Similarly, the management committee has also barred officials from joining other telecom companies within three years of their retirement. It has decided to stop post-retirement facilities of officials who joint rival companies within three years of retirement.
