NT expands 3G service in 20 districts

KATHMANDU, May 20:

Nepal Telecom (NT) has expanded 3G mobile service in 20 districts of Eastern Development Region, Mid-Western Development Region and Far Western Development Region.

NT has started 3G service in Morang and Sunsari districts of eastern region through 33 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) , in Banke , Bardiya, Surkhet, Dailekh, Dang, Rolpa, Salyan, Pyuthan and Jumla of mid-western region though 37 BTS.

Likewise, 3G service has been expanded in all nine districts of far- western region, informed NT in the statement on Tuesday.

The state-owned telecommunication company informed that 3G service is currently available in district headquarters of those districts and process of installing equipment is in full swing to expand the service to other areas too in future.

Through the 3G service, customers will benefit through high speed data upload and download along with voice service, NT spokesperson Guna Keshari Pradhan said.

Earlier, NT had completed upgradation of its 2G network in the Valley to 3G.
