NRB releases commemorative coins on NTY 2011

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has released commemorative coins on the occasion of the Nepal Tourism Year (NTY)-2011.

The central bank has been releasing such commemorative coins on special occasions announced by the government, during golden jubilee and silver jubilee anniversary of government offices and other special occasions and festivals.

The coins depict the image of Mt. Machhapuchhre in the front and the two eyes of the Swyambhu on the back side of the coin.

According to Under-secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mohan Pokhrel, 1,000 coins of Rs. 1,000 denomination in silver and 5,000 coins of Rs. 50 denomination in cupronickel have been issued.
